 2022 Block A Month Crochet Along

The Block a Month Crochet Along has operated on Ravelry forums for over 13 years. The moderators want to ensure the CAL is accessible to as many crafters as possible. As such, as one of the moderators, I will be posting details of the CAL squares here, and on the Catkitbob_Crochet Instagram page as they are announced.

January Main: Hope Springs

We are honoured to kick off 2022 with another new square from Polly Plum. Hope Springs is available for free on Polly’s Every Trick on the Hook website, or as a paid additional content, no-ads pdf on Ravelry.

january Members Choice: simbelMyne

Our second 12 inch square of the month, voted for by the members of the Ravelry group is Simbelmyne, also by Polly Plum. This square from a few years ago is available from Polly’s website.

JANUARY 6 inch: granny loves a baby

A nice simple introductory square from the archives, Granny Loves a Baby by Donna Mason-Svara is a Ravelry download.

The members have voted for Cow Parsley by moderator Lettice Rose to be our additional 12 inch square this month. The pattern is available as a Ravelry download.

february 6 incH: Rowing square 1

This 6 inch is a design by Desire Fourie. It is available as a Ravelry download or via a private Facebook group for a Lapghan made from 3 Rowing square designs.

March main square: Marzenbecher

Inspired by the German Spring Snowflake flower (‘Leuconum vernum’) is this pretty design from group member Loewenzahm.

March members choice: square 102

In 2021 Veronika Liachovic set herself an incredible target for publishing self designed crochet squares numbering rather than using worded names. Square 102 has been chosen by members this month.

The pattern is available with round by round photos on her website.

March 6 INCH: FLOWER Granny Squares

A pretty little square from Kylee Keller to increase your stock of 6 inch designs. This is available for free from her website.

April main Square: ALETA

Ineke Mooijenkind of Something Crochet has kindly given us this pattern for the April feature in our CAL. It is available as a Ravelry download only.

This pretty square from Creative Kogi was the favourite of the members this month. The pattern is available from Kogi’s site.

Another one of Diana Krenz’s Solar System small squares, Saturn is the 6 inch selection this month. It is available as a Ravelry download.

MaY Main Square: Duvet Days

May sees the return of moderator Lettice Rose to the design seat. This is a pretty square, that isn’t too taxing - perfect for those laid back duvet days. It is available as a Ravelry download.

Continuing the pretty theme, this floral centrepiece square from Lina Kittel has an elegant simplicity to it. Again it is available as a Ravelry download.

A first time feature for blogger Mich Hooker. He has cleverly combined clusters into a tiger stripe effect. Another Ravelry Download.

June Main Square: OSIRIS

With Egyptian influences, this new 12 inch from Sarah Falconer holds the interest on every round.

There is nearly always a Polly Plum square in our members monthly vote, and this one has topped the chart this month.

This pretty little square by Kate Veselunka of Itwasyarn is available as a Ravelry download.

JULY Main Square: Showstopper

Melinda Miller has been designing new squares for the CAL for almost as long as the CAL has been running, and we are delighted that she has continued to design for us again this year.

July Members Choice: Queenie

Yet another Polly Plum square is voted onto the CAL - this one being her latest design Queenie (originally part of the Moogly CAL).

July 6 Inch: Sunflower granny Square

This cute little square by Lullaby Lodge is available for free from their web-site, or a paid pdf version on Ravelry.

December main square: Yuletide Lights

My personal contribution to this year’s CAL is this seasonal mixture of berries and lights. It is available on Ravelry and Payhip.
