Winter Wreath - Mini Snowflakes

As ever, as a project progresses, you observe what you have created, and sometimes decide to do things a different way.  And so it is with the snowflake embellishments for these wreaths.

A small collection of embellishments is forming - hellebores and mistletoe from Lesley Stansfields 100 flowers to knit and crochet, and holly leaves following Attic 24 instructions.  But snowflakes made with the same DK brand yarn and a 3.75mm hook were just completely out of scale.

So it was back to rummaging the stash for alternatives.  The photo below shows my attempts with the same pattern.  I’m going to use the thread version for this project.

If you want to join me in this project, the patterns I’ve used for the 3 snowflakes follow below (US terminology):

For DK weight use 3.5mm hook, for 4 ply use a 2.75mm, but I’ve ended up using Coats crochet 5 thread with a 1.5mm hook.
